2016 is quite a breakout year for this blog. On my first ever Huawei smartphone review, I chose to be on the upper midrange radar.
I had the excitement as the people behind Huawei Device Philippines gave me a chance to check on the Huawei GR5. Two reasons for me, it's my first try to check how capable is the 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor (and definitely more battery efficient compared to SD 615) and have a review unit with finger print sensor. Well, these are the front and back views of the box.
Front: 5 MP secondary camera, 5.5 inch IPS FHD display, Huawei logo, on screen controls
Back: 13 MP AF main camera with flash, finger print sensor, Huawei logo, non removable back cover
Rest of internals: EMUI based on Android 5.1 Lollipop, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM, 3,000 mAh built-in battery
Left: SIM tray 1 (micro SIM), another SIM tray (for nano SIM + micro SD slot)
Right: Volume rockers, power/unlock button
Top: 3.5 mm. audio jack, noise-cancelling mic
Bottom: Speaker (only on the right is working) Left is for the microphone, micro USB port
Getting more out of the box with user manual, warranty card, SIM ejector tool, 1 ampere USB plus, earphones, micro USB to USB cable and protective case.
First impressions: If you'll not gonna put in the case, it is one of the easiest 5.5 inch phablets that I handled so far. The metal-like smartphone really looks premium despite that it doesn't have flagship-like price.
Watch out for my Huawei GR5 review soon.
