Lenovo A7000 unveiled, specs, price, availability, camera samples, first impressions

Lenovo Mobile Philippines had their answer in this growing battle of under P10k 64-bit octa-core phablets. Together with Lazada Philippines, they officially announced the Lenovo A7000.

The main highlight of this phablet? It is the world's first smartphone with Dolby Atmos technology which gives you an immersive experience especially if you're a movie buff on your mobile device. Lenovo Mobile PH officials said that you can still hear that unique Dolby feature even you don't have any Dolby Atmos-formatted videos or (when I asked this in the Q & A portion) if you'll gonna use your desired 3rd-party video player apps. As this device has 64-bit 1.5 GHz Mediatek MT6752M octa-core processor with LTE, they gave us an assurance that it will be ok on both Globe and Smart LTE.

I did a little hands-on with the device during the event. The front has 5.5 inch IPS HD display with 5 MP FF front camera. The back has 13 MP AF rear camera with flash. I have to confirm if the device has a removable back cover. What's inside is a respectable 2,900 mAh battery. The back cover is a bit on the glossy side but not much finger prints after I left the device to it's cradle.

The top has 3.5 mm. Full CTIA compliant audio jack and USB OTG capable micro USB slot. The mic is at the bottom.

And I brought some camera samples. I love some of the features of the front camera like tap the screen to take a pic, putting a peace sign to take a pic and the usual stuff. I love the camera shutter speed of both cameras. The back camera has f/2.2 aperture while at the selfie cam, it's f/2.8

First impressions: The device has Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box with a custom ROM (one of my fellow tech bloggers said that it has a MyUI-like ROM). I'm ok even that it has no app drawer but I can really feel the unique smoothness of the Lollipop OS and a 64-bit octa-core processor combo. The audio quality when I used my Mi Pistons V2 earphones is superb. Display is a-ok and the build quality.

You can now pre-order this device right now as this will be available in a flash sale starting 12 noon of May 21, 2015 exclusive at Lazada Philippines. Lenovo A7000 has an SRP of Php 7,390 with free screen protector and back cover.
